If you've made projects from Irene From Peterson's earlier book, Great Wire Jewelry, then you'll have a pretty good idea of the treat you're in for with this book, devoted to making jewelry using silver wire. After an introduction to materials, tools, and basic skills, the book is broken down into sections devoted to different techniques. For each technique, there is a two-page spread with color photographs of completed projects, a description of how to do the technique, and step-by-step tutorials for the projects. The projects are graded according to difficulty, always starting with something a beginner can try, then advance from as mastery is achieved. The categories are coils, stretching coils into waves, jump ring jewelry, jewelry using figure eights, working with pearls, braiding, crocheting and knitting, and working with simple wire. There are a ton of projects, the photos are very beautiful, and the step by step instructions are easy to follow. Basic tools, wire, beads/pearls, and findings are all you need to get started.
I'd recommend this book for anyone looking to master a wide range of wireworking techniques. The specified metal is silver, but most projects would readily convert to copper or steel, and many to other metals. The best part is learning to advance from a basic project to work toward a more complex piece of jewelry.
